How to Make a Mini-Lathe

So, that $9 piece of plastic I was so excited about? Totally works. Put my Foredom handpiece into it, clamped it in the Benchmate and tada – mini lathe!

So much fun!

And so much mess...

I decided to have a go at carving a sphere with my new wax tools. It turned out pretty well actually.

Cast it into silver, but I’ve no idea what I’m actually going to make it into!

I also turned some cone settings, as the one I carved by hand is a tiny bit wonky. Not so much that anyone else would notice, but it annoys me greatly.

I think I shall make these into stacking rings set with my favourite blue topaz and aquamarine gemstones.
